Instructor: Massimo Simion, Prof., M.D., D.D.S. (Visiting
from Milan, Itlay)
Dates: January 31 - February 3, 2007
Course Description
The introduction of the biological concepts of Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) in the last 10-15 years has enormously increased the indications of implant therapy and allowed a major improvement in its aesthetic outcomes. A correct diagnosis based on a multidisciplinary approach, including periodontal, prosthetic and surgical parameters is crucial. The periodontal evaluation must consider different factors regarding the patient's periodontal health and anatomy like the periodontium biotype, amount of cheratinized gingiva and mucosa, the height and the width of available bone. The prosthetic treatment planning has to consider cosmetics, phonetics and function. During the course the correct indications and treatment planning for the different edentoulisms will be described in detail together with the surgical techniques. Videos, hands-on and live surgeries will be used for a complete understanding of all the surgical steps necessary to achieve predictable results and reduce the complications. The course will include an overwěview of the current biomaterials available as bone substitutes and the new trends in bone regeneration like tissue Engineering. Objectives Upon completion of this course the participants will be able to: a) Recognize the anatomical determinants for proper diagnosis and treatment
planning in aesthetic implant restoration. Highlights Aesthetic implants, Guided Bone Regeneration, Biomaterials, Scalloped implants, Vertical bone regeneration,Horizontal bone regeneration, Prosthetic reconstruction. Course Program Day 1
