User information provided during account registration can be modified or removed on the Profile > Edit panel. In most cases, users also have control over who is able to view a particular piece of profile content, limiting visibility on a field-by-field basis to other alumni, logged-in users, or administrators only. Site administrators can read and edit all profile data for all users.

Activity

This site records certain user actions, in the form of “activity” data. Activity includes updates and comments posted directly to activity streams, as well as descriptions of other actions performed while using the site, such as new connections, newly joined groups, and profile updates.

The content of activity items obey the same privacy rules as the contexts in which the activity items are created. For example, activity updates created in a user’s profile is publicly visible, while activity items generated in a private group are visible only to members of that group. Site administrators can view all activity items, regardless of context.

Activity items may be deleted at any time by users who created them. Site administrators can edit all activity items.

Data usage when registering for the e-mail newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we will use the data required or separately provided by you to regularly send you our e-mail newsletter according to your consent. The deregistration from the newsletter is possible at any time and can be done either by a message to the contact option described below or via a dedicated link in the newsletter.

Course Registration

Those who engage in transactions with IDEA – by signing up for an IDEA course or program, are asked to provide additional information, including as necessary the personal and financial information required to process those transactions. In each case, IDEA collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the customers’s interaction with IDEA. IDEA does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.

Data integrity

IDEA processes personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected and in accordance with this Privacy Policy or any applicable service-specific privacy notice. We review our data collection, storage and processing practices to ensure that we only collect, store and process the personal information needed to provide or improve our services. Media Consent

By signing up for a course at IDEA, attendees consent that photography, audio and video recordings may occur throughout the length of the program, and some of the photographs will be posted on our website, newsletters, as well as used for other lawful course promotional purposes. Course attendees do not have a claim to remuneration for these publications.

Pursuant to § 8 (1) item 2 of the Data Protection Act, participants can revoke the consent they have given under data protection law to the use of their application photos, and photo, film and sound recordings produced at any time by notice to IDEA. A revocation has the consequence that all photo, film and sound recordings will no longer be used in the future.

Security

We take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. These include internal reviews of our data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures, as well as physical security measures to guard against unauthorized access to systems where we store personal data.

We restrict access to personal information to IDEA employees, contractors and agents who need to know that information in order to operate, develop or improve our services. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations.
